Learning was my first love. I eagerly went to school each day. I am a proud graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in Elementary Education. I have an endorsement in English as a Second Language. I am a cohort of the Northern Nevada English Language Initiative which allowed me to get extra training. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA in December 2015.
Experience
I have taught 3rd grade, 1st grade, and English as a Second Language in public schools. I currently teach at a private tutoring-based academy in Kailua that specializes in multisensory learning that is beneficial for students with autism, dyslexia, and other common learning disorders. I have tutored students K-12 privately for 9 years. I have worked at Huntington Learning Center where I tutored Math and Reading for students grades K-12 and subject tutoring for middle and high schoolers. I've worked in many elementary school classrooms among all grade levels. I have a real passion for learning and helping others learn. I have experience working with students who have learning disabilities, social disabilities, and language barriers. I am very familiar with the Common Core State Standards. I love empowering children to reach independence and observe their pride in their own successes. Hobbies
I love reading historical fiction novels and gardening. I grew up raising livestock and was very involved in agricultural youth programs as a child. I love playing with my two shih tzus and working with children. I enjoy traveling both domestically and abroad. I am always looking for opportunities to become a better educator. I believe all children can find joy in learning and I'd like to strive toward creating that passion one student at a time.
